Surface modification of nanosilica with 3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane: preparation and evaluation of properties

چکیده
Due to the hydrophilic nature of silica nanoparticles and the high surface-to-volume ratio, unmodified nano silica particles (SiO₂ NPs) tend to agglomerate in the natural rubber lipid-friendly matrix. To increase the compatibility of silica nanoparticles with ENR matrix, we modify the surface of nano silica using a silane, in this study, we modified the surface of nano silica with (triaminopropyl) triethoxy silane (APS). Using thermal analysis (TGA / DTG) the amount of silane molecules on the nano silica surface was estimated to be 6.2%. Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) confirmed the presence of silane molecules (APS) through the silanization reaction between alkoxy silane groups and hydroxy groups on the nano silica surface. Modified nano silica (m SiO₂ NPs) has better dispersion properties than nano silica and also showed less tendency to aggregation than unmodified nano silica.
