The effect of nanoparticles in water-based fluid on the severity of quench

چکیده
Recently using nanofluids in the heat treatment process has been more attractive for industries. The thermal conductivity of nanofluids is higher compared to other fluids so it causes to increase their severity of quench. Nanofluids are solutions of nanoparticles in base fluids such as water. In this research, the nanofluid of TiO2 powder with a particle size of 40-60 nm in water-based fluid was investigated. The nanofluids used in this study were prepared by adding 0.01, 0.2 and 1 g/l of TiO2 powder to water. The cooling rate of these nanofluids were compared with the cooling rate of water as a base fluid. Curves of the maximum cooling rate versus the amount of TiO2 nanoparticles were measured and recorded using a smart quenching system with Inconel 600 prob.
