Synthesis and Application of Fe2O3 nanoparticles for Photocatalytic Oxidative Desulfurization

چکیده
In this study, α-Fe2O3 nanoparticles were synthesized by a precipitation method using iron chloride hexahydrate (FeCl3.6H2O) as precursor and ammonia solution as precipitator. The prepared sample was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) methods. XRD pattern and Fe-SEM results showed that the synthesized iron oxide consisted of nanoparticles with α-Fe2O3 structure. Photocatalytic activity of the synthesized α-Fe2O3 nanoparticles was investigated for photocatalytic oxidative desulfurization of dibenzothiophene (DBT) in model fuel under visible light irradiation and air bubbling. Iron oxide nanoparticles indicated efficient photocatalytic activity for DBT oxidation under visible light irradiation.
