Photocatalytic Oxidative Desulfurization using Iron-doped TiO2 Nanoparticles

چکیده
The visible light activity of TiO2 was improved by iron-doping. Fe-doped TiO2 nanoparticles were synthesized via impregnation method. In order to characterize the structural and optical properties of the prepared sample, field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV–vis DRS) were used. Fe-doping of TiO2 resulted in extending the absorption to the visible region. Photocatalytic activity of the synthesized Fe-doped TiO2 nanoparticles was investigated for photocatalytic oxidative desulfurization of dibenzothiophene (DBT) in model fuel under visible light irradiation and air bubbling. Fe–doped TiO2 indicated efficient photocatalytic activity for DBT oxidation under visible light irradiation in organic phase which can be attributed to the visible light responsibility, improvement in charge carrier separation of nanophotocatalyst and production of useful radicals.
