Synthesis, characterization and catalylic application of Ag/Cu@C3N4 nanocomposite

Here, we report a facile method to synthesize a recyclable heterogeneous Ag/Cu@C3N4 nanocctalyst. The Ag/Cu @C3N4 nanocomposite was prepared by the loading of Ag and Cu nanoparticles onto the C3N4 nano sheets. The unique nano-hybrid material was characterized by UV-vis and FT-IR spectroscopies. The heterogeneous catalytic ability of the as-prepeared nanocomposite for the reduction of organic pollutants such as 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) into 4-aminophenol in the presence of sodium borohydride was studied by UV-vis spectroscopy.The synergistic effect between C3N4 and bimetallic Ag-Cu nanoparticles enhanced the catalytic performance of the hetero-nanostructured catalyst in 4-NP reduction reaction. Hopefully, this strategy can yield better and more effective heterogeneous catalysts for chemical reactions and environmental remediation applications.
