چکیده
In this study, the esterification reaction of Phthalic anhydride with Ethanol and Butanol in the presence of Acid-modified TiO2 nanoparticles as heterogeneous catalyst was investigated which lead to the formation of di-alkyl Phthalates. In this reaction, the presence of acid as a catalyst caused the progress of the equilibrium reaction of esterification in the opposite direction and also caused reduction of the amount of product and reducing the efficiency. TiO2 nanoparticles was used that are structurally bonded to mineral acids and acid-modified nanoparticles were able to increase the efficiency of our product as a heterogeneous catalyst. Also after modifying the levels of TiO2 with various mineral acids such as Sulfuric acid, Nitric acid and Hydrochloric acid, the role of catalyst in the esterification process was investigated and was compared with the catalytic activity of acids.
The results showed that heterogeneous catalysts (acid-modified nanoparticles) increased production efficiency and also both rate and equilibrium aren't consistent, and by using the Butanol and Ethanol the reaction rate is higher in the presence of TiO2-HCl.
