Fabrication of Platinum Nanoelectrode by Laser Pipet Pulling Methode to Study Fast Electron Transfer Kinetics

چکیده
A laser pulling technique was applied for the fabrication of Pt disk-shaped nanoelectrode with characteristic dimension of 300 nM in radius. The preparation of the nanoelectrode involves sealing a platinum wire with 25 μM in diameter inside a quartz tubing using a laser pipet puller, thinning the platinum/quartz assembly, and laser pulling it to obtain two nanooelectrodes. The resulting nanoelectrodes display reproducible well-controlled geometry. An electrode beveler which was used in the mechanical polishing of the nanoelectrode, is required and remains the critical step in the fabrication of nanometer size electrodes. Following fabrication, the nanoelectrodes are characterized by scanning electrochemical microscopy, and cyclic voltammetry. Fabricated nanoelectrode, was applied to study of fast electeron transfer rate of dissoleved redox probe, ferrocenemethanol, because of its well-defined geometry, very low resistive potential (IR) drop and double layer charging current (Idl), and increased the mass transport rate. The mean values of the kinetic parameters are k°= 7.2 ± 0.7 cm/s and α = 0.45 ± 0.03.
